AlkoGreen

Birkhäuser + GBC AG in Reinach, one of the most renowned and largest sheet-fed offset printers in Switzerland, began initial test runs, under production conditions, on the new GreenSeries on 2 June 2003, in cooperation with the Print Chemical manufacturer Druck Chemie.

For me, "under production conditions" meant giving the technicians from Druck Chemie a timeframe of 60 minutes in order to carry out a changeover from alcohol and a conventional dampening additive to the new AlkoGreen and FountGreen products.

Technically speaking, no serious difficulties arose. The trial machine, a Roland 706, was adjusted for the new product without any problems, and it quickly delivered excellent print results. Gradually, several machines were switched over and in short time, it was possible to print a recently produced business report with full colour images using AlkoGreen and Fountgreen. With a run length of seven million sheets, it was produced in only 14 days on several machines without any problems.
